Dr. John T. Phifer has operated a solo practice in Monroe, NC for over 35 years. He was recently joined by his son, Dr. John Braxton Phifer, to form Phifer Eye Associates, Optometrist, PLLC. The doctors are known for their thoroughness in performing an eye exam. Each patient receives individual care based on their needs - not hurried through as you are in many large clinics. The office is consistently voted "Best Optometrist" and "Best Eye Clinic" by the readers of the Enquirer Journal.

Phifer Eye offers a full range of optometric services. They perform diabetic eye exams and manage glaucoma, while also monitoring for macular degeneration. They perform pre-LASIK and post-LASIK examinations as well as follow-up care for cataract surgery. They treat eye injuries in both children and adults. The office is stocked with a wide assortment of eyeglass frames ranging from budget to designer lines. An optical assistant is available to assist with selecting the perfect style frame. Skin tones, hair color and style, and life styles are all taken into consideration when selecting glasses. Lens options are explained and recommendations offered, however, the patient has the final say. Patient satisfaction is very important.
